A down-to-earth oasis in the heart of the city. Great staff - every single staff member I met was warm, friendly and welcoming, really make you feel at ease and at home. Reasonable priced rooms, cheap and delicious made-to-order breakfast. Pet friendly and staff are pet lovers. Made of brick, so fairly soundproof rooms. Ground level rooms each have their own outside door. Nice hot showers. Rooms have a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine, work table and plenty of storage. Nice, big old-school keys to the rooms, which is so much nicer than the cards. Well lit and easy to find in the dark. Public library and YMCA with a pool nearby, as well as a precious strip of green grass for your dog to do its business amidst miles of concrete. Walking distance to anything downtown. 10 minutes drive to the east end of the city, 20 minutes to the west side. Off-street, designated free parking. Overall, almost everything I look for in a hotel. I will be back! My only complaint is that the pictures showed a bathtub with jets, but the tub and jets were not functional in my room. Had I realized the YMCA was so close earlier in my stay, I would have hit up their hot tub to make up for that. Also, as much as I like this place, there are a few things fussy people wouldn't like, like some stains on the carpet, an older bed and the occasional homeless person sleeping in the shade across the street. If you are one of the people bothered by such things, leave these nice folks alone and go stay down the street at one of the more expensive and pretentious hotels. I was in Billings for a business conference at the Double Tree. Their rooms were nicer in the conventional sense, but cost twice as much, had limited and costly parking, a labyrinth of elevators to get to your room, did not have microwaves in the room and charged ridiculous prices for tiny portions at breakfast. I will take the humble Dude Rancher over that scenario any day!

We loved the decor! The hotel has a unique style and ambiance. We appreciated the variety of furnishings in the room. The hotel is a cut above, far better than a cheap budget hotel or a cookie-cutter room in a corporate chain. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We appreciated the courtyard parking. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious and filling. The property is just a short drive away from several excellent restaurants for lunch or dinner. For travelers looking for something with a real "historic" feel, this place is a great choice.

We loved our stay. It's pet friendly, comfortable, and the place has a personality. It's clean, comfortable, safe. Staff was very friendly to us. Their awesome breakfast is the highlight. For just 8 dollars we ate the most delicious breakfast of the entire trip. Our dog slept well too! We managed to arrive in time to get a parking spot inside, which seemed much safer than other hotels we've been to. Spots in the internal yard fill up quickly, and after it's full, they recommend parking in an adjacent parking lot next doors.

Not my first stay. Great location. Especially liked the multi plug on the nightstand- no problem charging all my devices conveniently. Great fridge and microwave. Good shower head. Parking in front of room entrance is handy. Need a nightstand or small table on other side of bed for when two people stay so second person has a place for bedside items.

Liked the historic feel of the place and Western theme. We wanted a change from the chain motels and this one was an excellent choice for us. The location was perfect (close to St Vincent hospital). The breakfast menu had several choices and ours were cooked very well and were very tasty. We also liked parking right in front of our room.
